The Kennedy Blvd. viaduct in the movie "The Punisher" 2004 Tampa
Переглядів 1,4 тис.7 років тому
Howard Saint throws his wife from the viaduct onto the tracks below. Constructed in 1926 to carry traffic over the railroad tracks from downtown Tampa on Lafayette St, to 13th Street which led to Ybor City. The viaduct was demolished in the 2000s to develop the area from warehouses & industrial to condos. The viaduct was replaced with a standard railroad crossing due to very little train traffi...

Possibly mid to late 1970s. This video is from a UA-cam video channel "Bob Hite." I have reposted it here to use UA-cam's enhancement feature to try and tweak the contrast.

Переглядів 1037 років тому
Video by Mario Nunez describing the scene as Richard Gonzmart spares no expense to rescue the Lowry Park Fairyland character figures which were discarded by the city over 20 years earlier. Instead of donating them to the "Save Fairyland" group who plan to restore them at their own expense, so they could once again be displayed publicly, the city made them buy back their history and childhood me...

The bridge was over a railroad yard where locomotives cruised in and out at 5mph. The scene where she gets run over by a speeding freight train was filmed miles away from this yard. Today, the bridge is gone and this is now a street level railroad grade crossing.
I've been to the revived Hyde Park location a few times. They really made it look and feel like the original location. Those wood chairs are in there and the food is amazing!
Someone dropped a #2 on the floor there
I see they were excited about talking about their #2 in 1966. I hope it all came out ok. Was it something in the pizza? :/
Brings back memories.
The El Rancho motel on Neb. south of Hamilton had a great neon sign. Cowboy riding horse while throwing a lariet. Motel is still there too with the same name. After being born in Tampa in 1953 I remember most of those signs. Burger Queen and Dairy Queen both brought back memories.
really awesome vintage pizza commercial from the 60s

Seeing the signs of the past, especially of The Flaming Buddha, is a wonderful reminder of times when I was a much younger man... Loved this video!
Been awhile since your post. But do you remember the House of Seven Sorrows?
I was born in 1967 and I've lived in the Tampa area all of my life. I really enjoyed watching this video and am very glad that Mr. Cinchett recorded these signs! Thank you very much for sharing this.
Absolutely amazing. I have been living in Tampa since I was born in 1990, but I am very intrigued by Tampa's history. Wish some of these signs still existed!
My dad Bill Taylor played piano for several local Shakey's for years.
Maria, the lovely daughter of the cigar factory foreman, is played by Joann Toretta, the mother of WFLA news anchor Gayle Guyardo.
35 years ago today!
Jan 19th,1977 it snowed the year before i was born i was born jan 19th, 1978
I guess we'll have to opt for the local Indian tribes to enlighten us through their oral traditions(if Orlando has ever gone through a snowstorm). lol.
@13457brandon Actually it can be anywhere from about the low 50s to even approaching 90, any day below 50 is very unusual, let alone the 40 degrees that it finally squeaked out at 4PM (very similar to Jan. 9, 2010 in fact- but the morning was just 3 degrees colder in '77, hence the snow). wunderground . com can show weather history for either day (and any in between, and back to about 1940).
I remember Flurries in Sarasota, probably was the '77 event.
Fond memories of many visits to the Goody Goody with friends and family members.
I heard It's usually 70 there in the winter. It's very unlikely for it to snow there. I thought it just snowed on the panhandle once in a blue moon, but apparently not.
Thanks tommiej3, that was me, wearing the Vikings cap. See the same photos on my website, better images, w w w.tampapix.com / snow.htm.
wow - well researched! Great job. Brilliant idea for the person to write the date of snow in the snow on windshield!! That date stamps it the best!!
Everybody sing along! "Should all the lyrics be forgot but still you want to sing, then make it up and fake it like, you know that Auld Lang Syne!"
